Wooton wows 'em with record 30 points South topples Eagles, 62-52 Lynn Wooton has had some stellar nights, but none like the one she put forth Tuesday for the South Medford girls basketball team. The 6-foot senior post dropped in a school-record 30 points and added 15 rebounds in leading the Panthers to a 62-52 victory over Eagle Point in Southern Oregon Conference play. "Lynn just did an outstanding job tonight," said South Medford coach Andrea Wegner. "She rebounded extremely well. That was by far the best game of her career." Wooton connected on 14 of 15 free throws, including 8 of 9 in the second quarter, and used 10 offensive rebounds to put her scoring mark in the South record book. "Most of her looks were inside tonight against two people," said Wegner. "She scored a lot off those offensive rebounds or was fouled and sent to the line." Whitney Grant added 13 points and five assists as South used a 20-10 surge in the fourth quarter to improve to 8-8 overall and 4-4 in league play. NORTH MEDFORD 48, KLAMATH UNION 41 -- At Klamath Falls, North Medford's Kelsey Versteeg took advantage of increased court time to lead the Black Tornado. With Ashley Nelson out of the lineup, Versteeg scored a game-high 13 points and added 10 rebounds for North (7-10, 3-5 SOC). Tressa Manwaring had 15 rebounds and six points as the Tornado displayed a balanced attack. North used a 17-5 run in the third quarter to take a 39-22 lead, but the Pelicans rallied in the fourth quarter against the Tornado's second-stringers to trim the deficit. CRATER 76, ROSEBURG 28 -- At Roseburg, ninth-ranked Crater, which struggled with Roseburg at home earlier this season, rolled on the road, placing five players in double figures. The Comets charged to a 43-11 halftime lead. In the previous meeting, Crater only led by four points after three quarters. Jody McLeod and Skye Hemphill led Crater, which shot 60 percent from field, with 12 points each. Amy Denson added 11 and Sarah Yager and Brandi Hall contributed 10 points apiece. Hanna Seltzer rallied Ashland from a 25-24 halftime deficit with 10 points in the third period. The Grizzlies put the game away in the fourth quarter by hitting 8-of-11 from the foul line.
