Christopher Joseph Thompson, 41, has resided in the Portland area, OSP reported, but may have recently moved to the Central Point area. OSP is still asking for help in tracking down the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision. Thompson was struck by an unknown vehicle around 3:15 a.m.near milepost 7 in front of the White City Goodwill store. OSP believes Thompson was walking in the northbound bike lane located between the right turn lane into the store and the right northbound lane. Thompson was transported by Mercy Flights to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in critical condition. He has since been transported to Oregon Health & Science University, an Asante spokeswoman said Monday. (Information updated from previous version.) Evidence at the scene indicates the involved vehicle sustained damage to a headlight/turn signal assembly, side mirror and possibly windshield or side glass. It is unknown at this time if the damage is to the right or left area of the involved vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact OSP Southern Command Center dispatch at 541-776-6111.
