Jackson County reports 43 new COVID-19 cases By Vickie Aldous By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Dec 17, 2021 06:00 PM A A Jackson County reported 43 new COVID-19 cases Friday and another COVID-19-related death. A 71-year-old man with underlying conditions died Dec. 16 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, according to the Oregon Health Authority. For the state, OHA reported 1,072 new COVID-19 cases and five additional deaths, including the death in Jackson County. The four hospitals in Jackson and Josephine County had three open intensive care unit beds Friday, with 56 filled, according to hospitalization data. Rogue Valley hospitals were caring for 53 patients with COVID-19 Friday. Of those, 20 were in ICU beds, with six on ventilators.
