No offense (I'm just an old fogy), but in my opinion the sculpture selected to be installed on Ashland's Gateway Island resembles an IUD, one of the banned ones. But maybe this is the least dangerous of the banned ones. I wish it could've been some manner of tree that we could drape Christmas lights on. Just the quaint, foggy musings of an oldster. But while I'm on the topic of "art," might I mention my secret wish for the bodies to come down? They've been just hanging there, in a static orbit around a spindle by the highway for years (at the Talent Studios). And the orbit is unnaturally circular, rather than elliptical — which brings to mind the old saying, "If a circle is perfect, the world is not round." Such is the world today, a world of perfect circles and invasive devices that drive us to madness. And the necessary Nirvana of the aged: resignation. "Oh, well." "C'est la vie!" Carola Lacy Ashland Book included letters In the last three years, 72 letters to the editor were printed protesting the condition of our state and country.
