DeMille February 26, 1926 - October 13, 2015 “Billie,"as she was known, passed away October 13, 2015 at the age of 89. She was born in Kansas City, Mo. to Joe and Opal Olsasky, their first-born child. She felt it was no secret that her Dad wanted the first-born to be a boy. Her love of all sports came from her father, and her love of flowers and animals she inherited from her mother. The family moved to California when Billie was a teenager. She pursued a career as a bookkeeper, secretary and all-around, “girl-Friday.” She met Vic DeMille in late January 1964 and within 3 weeks they were married and off to Anchorage, Alaska to begin a new life. Vic was a carpenter, and Billie continued her career with trucking companies and airlines, then completed it with GCI. She was very active in Master Gardener’s Clubs in Alaska and in Medford. She held the office of Secretary in both the Oregon state and district garden clubs. Billie created beautiful flower arrangements, and judged many flower shows throughout southern Oregon. She loved to bake, was a master fudge maker, and won several Fair awards for her pickles. Billie and Vic moved to Medford on their retirement in 1989 with plans to travel in their RV. Activities for Billie centered around the Master Gardeners Club and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. They traveled many miles in their RV, visiting many of the US states. They also traveled to Europe and South America. Together, they enjoyed reading, pinochle, gardening, visits to Gold Beach, Ore., and spending time with their “family of friends” in Medford. Billie gave generously of her time and money to everyone; her love of her “family of friends” was unsurpassed. She was extremely punctual, right down to the minute. She will be greatly missed by her family of friends. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Vic; her parents; and her brothers, Mark and Jack. She is survived by her family of friends, Joan, Tony, Amanda, Rachelle, Gary Middendorff, and Hanna Coleman, Shirley Forrette (and family), Ricky Keith, Kent Francis, Pat Stoddard, Bud Ecker, and Nancy Miles. She is also survived by her niece, Aleyisia Olsasky and former sister-in-law, Thalia Olsasky of California. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pear Blossom Festival Association and Magdalene Home. A special thanks is extended to Dr. Tom Margulies, his nurse, Sharil, and the hospice team from Providence; her caregivers, Lillian Sheppard and Leil Chua who provided the utmost love, care and attention; and of course, to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church for their continued love and support. She was so blessed to be in your care. Billie will be interred alongside her beloved husband, at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. All who knew Billie are welcome to attend. A celebration of Billie's life (with reception) will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
