Dec. 18, 1915 STATE TEACHERS MEET IN MEDFORD ON DECEMBER 27 One week from next Monday Medford will capitulate unconditionally to the extraordinary forces of the educational institutions of the state, who will assemble in this city at that time for the fifteenth annual session of the State Teachers' association, this being its first assemblage in any district in the state south of Eugene. It promises to be the most important convention of the educational forces of the state ever held, judging by the number and significance of the subjects to be handled by that body while in session here. In conjunction with the assemblage of this association will occur the annual teachers' institute for Jackson and Josephine counties. These organizations promise an aggregate membership for the convention of between 400 and 500. Among those who will participate in its work will be some of the most eminent instructors in the west. Some of these educators have a nation-wide reputation for their aggressive work in behalf of advanced instruction in all of the schools and school grades. County School Superintendent J. Perey Wells and Professor V. Meldo Hillis, superintendent of the Medford schools, are making arrangements, through committees already appointed and at work, and by much personal effort, to complete the program for the reception of this body of teachers. The committee on selection of the place for bidding the convention is not able yet to report. The teachers of Jackson and Josephine counties are required by law to attend this convention, since it takes the place of the regular annual teachers' institute. They will receive pay for the time thus employed. A full attendance of the teachers of these two counties is anticipated. It will enable them to enjoy the benefit of the work of the state convention without extra expense on their part.
