Chaney and Kauffman won all of their matches in straight sets. Chaney also won the ladies open singles title. She became the first person to win all three open division titles when she teamed up with Danielle Farber to claim the open doubles championship. Kauffman advanced to the men’s open singles final before losing. Rowing Oregon State University senior rower Julia White-Hoppe claimed a spot on the 13-member All-Pacific 10 Conference squad for the second year in a row. White-Hoppe, a South Medford High graduate, served as OSU’s co-captain this season and rowed in the four seat while helping the Beavers’ varsity eight to seventh place at the Pac-10 Championships. She is also a second-team All-American as chosen by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. Advertisement Billiards Members of a local American Pool Players Association (APA) team advanced to the national APA championship tournament held in Las Vegas during August. "Hope’s Bad Boys," consisting of team captain Hope Bolien, co-captain Shelley Loar, Jeremy Hughes, Sean Davidson, Russ Ritter, Doug Pooley, Adam Nordahl and Shane Caster , won the regional tournament at Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville last weekend. The team will be the first to represent southern Oregon APA members at the national level. Golf Bruce Thomsen scored an ace June 19 on the StoneRidge GC. The Klamath Falls golfer nailed his hole-in-one with a 160-yard five iron shot on the second hole.
