Carlos Zavala Flores, 38, of Juneau, Alaska, and Jorge Armando Lopez-Villareal, 27, of California, are lodged in the Jackson County Jail on felony drug-trafficking charges after being stopped Wednesday evening on Interstate 5 near Exit 27. At about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, a trooper stopped a gray 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe with California plates for failing to stay within a lane, police alleged. During the stop, Flores reportedly couldn't produce registration for the vehicle, which he said belonged to his father, and the vehicle smelled strongly of marijuana. The pair reportedly gave police consent to search the vehicle, which yielded 6.8 pounds of cocaine, 22 pounds of marijuana and $6,700 cash from the luggage area, according to a press release from OSP. Flores and Lopez-Villareal each face felony charges of manufacturing, delivering and possessing cocaine, and are set to make their initial court appearance on the charges today, Jackson County Circuit Court records show. The suspects are each held on $37,500 bail, jail records show.
