A 13th-minute goal from senior forward Matt Sharp opened the scoring as the Grizzlies stomped Churchill, 3-0, in non-conference play Saturday. Ashland (3-1 overall), which is expected to contend for the SOC title, also got scores from senior defensive midfielder Jacob VanAusdall in the 35th and junior midfielder/forward Austin Buell in the 60th. Junior forward Ricky Ferguson assisted the first two goals and senior fullback Aaron Michalson’s corner kick set up the last. Grizzlies head coach Eisa Tiaa Toutou would have liked a few more tallies to show for a dominating performance. "We controlled the ball, but we just didn’t finish like we’re supposed to do," Tiaa Toutou said. "They’re very aggressive. We tried to play our game and let them do their thing." The Lancers committed 20 fouls to Ashland’s 13. The Grizzlies host Grants Pass at 4 p.m. Tuesday to kick off conference action. DALLAS 1, NORTH MEDFORD 0 — Dylan Ordonez accounted for all of the match’s scoring with a 45th-minute goal to propel visiting Dallas to a non-conference victory. Ordonez ran onto a through pass, beat one North Medford defender and slotted a 15-yard shot inside the far post. The Tornado (2-5) had a prime second-half opportunity go awry when senior forward Jorge Castro was taken out just outside the penalty box by Dragons goalkeeper Ryan Fobert. A yellow card was issued to Fobert, and North’s direct kick missed. The teams finished tied in shots, 7-7, and Tornado sophomore goalkeeper Devin Torrey came up with two key saves. CRATER 1, THURSTON 0 — At Springfield, senior forward Jay Delamora’s unassisted, upper-V bender eight minutes in was the difference for visiting Crater. The Comets (5-1) outshot Thurston, 14-8, and received solid play from sophomore right midfielder Josh Smith. Crater begins SOC play by hosting North Medford at 4 p.m. Tuesday. EAGLE POINT 4, GLIDE 3 — At Glide, Richie Cruz scored three goals and assisted on the other as Eagle Point won its first game after five losses in non-conference play. Cruz’s first goal was a breakaway through two defenders. He was assisted by Junior Malgarego and Brian Lew on second-half goals. Brandon van veghel, a defender with a strong foot, punched in the game-winner off a pass from Cruz at the 75th minute. SPRINGFIELD 2, ROSEBURG 0 — At Roseburg, Alivo Ramirez and Lenin Ramirez scored to push Springfield past Roseburg. The Millers outshot the Indians (4-3), 15-5, and had eight prime scoring chances to Roseburg’s five. Indians senior goalkeeper Alex Beale made six saves. Girls NORTH EUGENE 2, SOUTH MEDFORD 1 — At Eugene, South Medford needed the first half to get used to the artificial turf at North Eugene High, then played the Highlanders even in the non-conference match until Erin West connected on a howitzer for the second time. West, a defender who had hit from 20 yards out late in the first half, found the net again for the game-winner from 30 yards at minute 63. South (4-1-1) was outshot 10-2 in the first half, but adjusted to the surface’s fast pace and won the shots battle 7-2 in the second half. The Panthers had tied it 1-1 at the 57th minute when Courtney Quinowski — who along with backfield partner Lindsay Huey played brilliantly — scored on a 25-yard free kick. NORTH MEDFORD 9, DALLAS 0 — At Dallas, North Medford scored six goals in the first 30 minutes of play en route to a non-conference victory. Emily Gross scored two minutes in and Lisa Munyon followed with a goal just one minute later. The Black Tornado (3-1-3) led 7-0 at the half and finished with a 31-0 shots-on-goal advantage. Munyon and finished with a pair of goals and an assist, while Gross finished with two assists to go with her first-half goal. Teammate Whitney Major and Tess Heyreman each had two goals and scored two goals and Amber Whithol assisted on two scores. CRATER 1, THURSTON 0 — At Springfield, Sarah LaFontaine scored in the 56th minute to propel Crater to a non-conference win. LaFontaine broke up the scoreless tie off an assist by Janelle Stoner. The Comets held a 15-2 advantage in shots on goal and improved to 4-0-2 on the season. EAGLE POINT 1, NORTH BEND 1 — At North Bend, Alisa Goslin scored her seventh goal of the season as Eagle Point forged a non-conference tie. Goslin, a junior forward, tallied in the 18th minute to give the Eagles (0-3-3) the halftime lead. North Bend tied it in the 68th minute. ROSEBURG 5, SPRINGFIELD 1 — At Springfield, Roseburg’s Carli Goddard scored in the first minute to boost Roseburg to a non-conference win. Val Groshong and Marri Coen also added first-half goals to give the Indians (3-3-1) a 3-1 lead at the half. Kaitlin Estabrook and Shayla Corder scored in the 61st and 75th minutes, respectively, for Roseburg.
