Jackson County reports 12 more cases of COVID-19 By Mail Tribune staff Aug 05, 2020 04:28 PM A A Jackson County Public Health reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday, bringing the county total to 421, including 129 patients who are still considered infectious. There have been 29 hospitalizations and one death from the illness in the county. The Oregon Health Authority reported 299 more cases of COVID-19 and five more deaths Wednesday, pushing the statewide total to 19,979 cases and 338 deaths. OHA said 4,037 patients are considered to have recovered. Earlier this week, the state reported that the week of July 26 to Aug. 1 saw the state’s highest rate of positive tests since the pandemic began. Of 35,424 tests during the period, 2,174 were positive, or 6.1%, according to an OHA report. The state’s cumulative rate was at 4.4%. Two cases previously assigned to Jackson County were transferred to other jurisdictions Wednesday because the patients did not live here, the Jackson County Health Department said.
