The top-ranked Crusaders, who did not drop a game this season, claimed their first title since 2006 when they won the second of back-to-back championships. Jesuit quarterback Eric Restic threw for 129 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for 116 yards and another score. No. 3 West Linn, making its first trip to the title game, fell behind after the first three quarters but pulled in front 14-13 when quarterback Tim Tawa scored on a 3-yard keeper and Camden Nemec made the extra point with 4:17 left in the game. The rainy game at Portland's downtown Providence Park was a defensive battle from the start, surprising since Jesuit was averaging 56 points a game going in, and West Lin was averaging 43. Jesuit defeated No. 4 Sheldon 34-13 in the semifinals. West Linn routed No. 2 Sherwood 51-7 in the semifinals, avenging the team's only loss in the regular season. Tawa, the state's player of the year who has committed to Stanford, threw for 226 yards and ran for a pair of touchdowns for the Lions. Overall he's thrown for a state record 4,397 yards this season, with 50 touchdowns. West Linn's offense saw the return of top running back Elijah Molden, who was injured earlier in the playoffs. Molden played at defensive back in the semifinal victory a week earlier and had an interception. Against Jesuit he ran for 59 yards. Talley has run for 2,620 yards and 45 touchdowns this season.
