The Jackson County Sheriff's Office reported Sunday that Christopher Alan Williams, 39, of Central Point, lost control of the Honda Accord he was driving as he rounded a curve, left the roadway and crossed a field before striking a tree. Dustin Everette Yax, 34, also of Central Point, was ejected from the vehicle, and died at the scene. Williams and a second passenger, Zachary Dennis Spencer, 34, of Eugene, were transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The accident was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Sheriff's deputies, Jacksonville Police and Applegate Fire personnel responded to the 4000 block of Upper Applegate Road. Alcohol and excessive speed are believed to be factors in the crash, the sheriff's office reported. The Jackson County Multi Agency Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction team and a deputy medical examiner from the Central Point Police Department assisted in the investigation.
