Letters, Dec. 21 By Gary Nelson By Mail Tribune readers Dec 21, 2022 12:00 AM A A Heartwarming generosity It has been heartwarming to read about our community’s outpouring of love and generosity toward our local citizens in need this Christmas season. It makes me deeply grateful to live in a community that openly expresses kindness and selflessness. As the Christmas season is upon us and we consider the words “peace on earth, good will toward men,” may we continue the good work and commit to showing love, kindness and charity. Additionally, as the New Year is upon us and we consider New Year’s resolutions, let’s strive together to listen more carefully, show more love, be humble, forgive, apologize, inspire others, smile, volunteer, be the sunshine in someone’s day and cultivate a compassionate attitude. In a world that desperately needs peace, let’s make a difference — together! Tammy Noble Sams Valley Food Project says thanks The spirit of giving was alive and well on the Dec. 10 Ashland Food Project green bag drop off at the Ashland Emergency Food Bank. Neighborhood Coordinators pulled into a long line of fulfillment as volunteers unloaded bags full of upwards of 22,000 pounds of nonperishable food and $7,000 in checks from nearly 2,300 households helping to alleviate food insecurity in our community. By sharing food, the Ashland Food Project and the other Neighborhood Food Projects throughout the Rogue Valley build community. Neighbors helping neighbors. The Ashland Food Project would like to thank this month’s sponsor, Paddington Family of Stores. Another reason why buying local supports giving local. It’s easy: Go to our website, ashlandfoodproject.com, and become a donor or volunteer. Our green bag miracle that fills the shelves with sustenance and our hearts with joy happens six times a year. Our next pickup is Feb. 11. Join us! Linda Peterson Adams Ashland Goodbye, Leonard Pitts Thank you for running Leonard Pitts all these years. He was a fine teacher and honest writer who balanced sharp intellect with a tender heart and sound research. Please consider Charles Blow to fill the open slot. We are fine with the EEdition, but we can’t start up the wood stove with it. Merry Season to MMT staff! Sam Alvord Greensprings
