Sierra Club will wait on appeal Whether the Sierra Club will appeal a judge's ruling to allow construction of a sewage treatment plant on Mount Ashland is an issue that won't be aired for several weeks. Charlotte Holzkamper, chairwoman of the Rogue Group Sierra Club, said the group wouldn't announce a decision about whether it will appeal until the club has an executive committee meeting Sept. 14. In the meantime, Holzkamper said, group members will talk with attorneys to discuss what happened and why, "so that it never happens to us again." On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Robert E. Jones denied the group's request to issue a preliminary injunction to stop construction of a new sewer plant, which is to replace the temporary sewage facility built in 1981. The Rogue Group argued that the plant would contaminate the Ashland watershed, and that its construction would allow Ski Ashland to proceed with expansion plans that the group opposes on environmental grounds.
