Library site could find new uses What will happen to the old Carnegie Library when the new one is built? It is too small for a library with Medford's growing population, but I am fond of it. -- Mary C., Medford Actually, Mary, nothing will happen to the historic building that serves as Medford's library and the county library headquarters unless voters approve a $39 million library ballot measure May 16. If the measure does pass, though, the building reverts back to the city of Medford. The City Council would decide what would happen to the building in that case, said Celeste Stevens, executive assistant to the Medford city manager. Council members have discussed several alternatives for the much-loved building. Possibilities include a children's discovery museum, a community center, the Medford Urban Renewal office, professional offices for private businesses, council chambers, municipal court or the police department.
