Neville, Henry lead Illinois Valley past Lakeview CAVE JUNCTION Justin Neville is the glamour player for Illinois Valley, but without Brandon Henry the Cougars would not be in second place in the Skyline Conference boys basketball standings. Neville provided a game-high 26 points and Henry added a double-double as Illinois Valley moved into sole possession of second place with a 60-51 home victory over Lakeview Friday. The win broke a deadlock with Hidden Valley, which lost to Mazama, for the the leagues runner-up spot. Henry, a senior post who is averaging a double-double on the season, played to form again with 14 points and 17 rebounds. "He does the little things that go unnoticed," Illinois Valley coach Jeff Brimhall said. "Hes not the greatest scorer, but he brings an energy Ive never seen before. He always shows up and it carries over to the rest of the team." Lakeview (9-11, 5-7 Skyline) got out fast on the Cougars by scoring the games first eight points. Neville broke the drought for IV (17-5, 9-3). "We just needed to score one to get us going," said Brimhall. "Neville carried us early. He had all our first quarter points." Jesse Russell only had six points for IV, but two second-half baskets kept the teams momentum alive. He connected on a 3-pointer late in the third quarter to give the Cougars a double-digit lead, then his fourth-quarter field goal provided a commanding 16-point bulge midway through the period.
