Beverly Alice Weiler Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Jan. 30, 2015 at 2:00 AM Posted Jan. 30, 2015 at 2:00 AM » Social News Our mother, Beverly Alice Weiler passed away into the arms of our Heavenly Father, January 27, 2015 at Farmington Square, Medford, Ore. She was given the most awesome loving care while living there for 17 months and words cannot express the expertise and kindness of Asante Hospice. Beverly was born November 15, 1924 in Oregon City, Ore. the daughter of Noble Fred and Lily Reaksecker, and graduated high school at OCHS. During the depression her dad lost the well known Kelly Field which is where the End Of The Oregon Trail Interpretive Center now resides. Her family along with brothers, Dick and Dean Reaksecker, moved back to her aunt's farm in Skidmore, Mo. to farm. We heard the tale many times of when she rode her horse to school, he got loose, leaving her to walk home in knee deep snow. After four years, they returned to Oregon City where her dad later became Clackamas County Sheriff. As a teenager she played the violin, was a part of the Oregon Junior Symphony, and upon graduation learned to become an automotive accountant. Her accounting expertise was sought after by several automotive dealerships. She married our father, Sam P. Weiler in Oregon City, August 12, 1949. Life consisted of living on a small farm with many horses, chickens, fruit trees, and a garden, and mom canned the fruits of their labor. We remember plucking chicken feathers from the butchered chickens. Dahlias were her pride and joy and Dad's dill pickles were fabulous. Although mom wasn't fond of the constant rodeo events dad participated in with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Posse Drill Team of the 1950-60's, we loved it! We could always count on steak dinner on Saturday night and pot roast on Sunday after church. Mom was also always running us around with our youth activities. Good memories! She was a neat nick and her mantra was If you can't do it right, don't do it at all! She must have been Wonder Woman, as she worked outside the home too. We moved to Medford, Ore. in 1967, as Mom and Dad had purchased to operate Weiler Oldsmobile-GMC Truck Dealership. Mom worked for the Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic, Modern Appliance and later joined Sam at the dealership as office manager, accountant until April of 1990. She performed with pencil and ledger through to the beginnings of the computer era. She enjoyed her home, loved to share her love of cooking with family, church, friends, and she bought cook books from every traveled destination. Many framed embroidered pieces of her handiwork adorned her home, she loved to knit and even play the slots for fun. She was always thought of as warm-hearted and gracious. Survivors include son, Dennis (Marlene) Weiler, Medford, Ore.; daughters, Debra (Joe) Dauenhauer, Ashland, Ore. and Valerie Soto, Medford, Ore.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband, Sam preceded her in death in 1993, as well as her brothers & parents. Mom will be laid to rest next to dad at Riverview Abbey in Portland, Ore. where at a later date, we will celebrate a family gathering of an era gone by.
