One wounded, another arrested after east Medford shooting Cody James Templeton Saturday Jan 27, 2018 at 2:30 PM Jan 27, 2018 at 2:53 PM Local report A 39-year-old man is in critical condition and another is behind bars following a shooting at an east Medford apartment complex. Cody James Templeton, 23, was arrested on attempted murder and first-degree assault charges on accusations he shot a man in the head early Saturday morning inside an apartment at 800 Ellendale Drive. Police list his address in the same block as the shooting. The victim, who police have not named until next of kin can be notified, is in critical condition at a Medford hospital, according to a release issued by Medford police. Minutes after receiving two 911 calls at 1:37 a.m. Saturday, Medford police were at the scene, according to the release. The victim had been staying at the residence where the shooting occurred. Detectives are still piecing together what led up to the shooting, but police have talked to four people who were inside the residence at the time, including the victim, who identified Templeton as the shooter. Three others who could be witnesses fled the scene, police said. About 10 a.m. this morning, police executed a search warrant on the property, where detectives found evidence of drug activity inside. Templeton was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $200,000 bail. Oregon court records show no criminal history for Templeton aside from a 2013 traffic violation in Lane County. Anyone who may have information about the case, particularly about the three people who left before police arrived, should contact Medford Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division at 541-774-2230.
