Pot trafficker charged again By Nick Morgan of the Mail Tribune Jul 25, 2019 05:50 PM A A A Medford man with a prior drug conviction surrounding a large-scale marijuana operation at the former Willamette Egg Farm faces new charges alleging he had a role in an illicit marijuana deal in which $97,000 was seized. Clifton Dwight Crump, 56, is accused of facilitating the purchase of 100 pounds of unlicensed marijuana for Jeremy Eugene Lunt, 42, of Grants Pass, according to documents filed by the multi-agency Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement task force in Jackson County Circuit Court. MADGE arrested Crump and Lunt on Wednesday at a rural property in the 300 block of Andesite Road near Jacksonville, according to court documents which say police seized $97,000 from Lunt. Crump allegedly admitted to MADGE investigators that he brokered the sale for $7,000, and both suspects allegedly admitted that they brought the money to purchase marijuana. Neither suspect had paperwork authorizing them under state law to own marijuana in that quantity, according to MADGE. Crump made his initial court appearance Thursday afternoon in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of attempted money laundering and unlawfully delivering a marijuana item, which the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office alleges was greater than 16 times the 8-ounce purchase limit allowed under Oregon law. Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Laura Cromwell set Crump’s bail at $7,500 on Thursday. Cromwell explained prior to Crump’s hearing that her husband, a police officer with MADGE’s Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Task Force, was involved in the case, but Crump waived the conflict and had Cromwell arraign him. Cromwell set a tentative date of Aug. 1 for Crump’s next court appearance, but a pending grand jury hearing could change the date. Lunt also faces felony charges of unlawfully delivering a marijuana item and attempted money laundering, but court records show he has not made a court appearance yet. Jackson County Jail records show Lunt was booked in the jail Wednesday, but he had been released by Thursday afternoon. Lunt has no prior criminal history in Oregon, court records show. Crump was convicted of trafficking large quantities of unlicensed marijuana from the former Willamette Egg Farm in the fall of 2017 . In June 2018, Crump was sentenced to three years of probation for manufacturing marijuana, importing or exporting marijuana and delivering methamphetamine. Court records show he was barred from participating in the marijuana business, and he faces the possibility of prison for failing to comply with the terms of his probation.
