MEDFORD PLAYERS READY FOR BIG GAME ON FOURTH After several weeks of hard work, the Medford ball club completed their final training preparations Sunday afternoon for the big games with Weed at Ashland July 4th, 5th and 6th, by trouncing Eagle Point 13 to 1. The local boys showed to good advantage with the stick, and also fielded nicely what few chances came to them. Local fans thoroughly satisfied that the team is in excellent condition and ready to take the field against Weed in the most important games of the season for the championship of southern and northern California. The promoters of the games at Ashland received Weed's line-up yesterday. Among them are Bryant, University of Washington pitcher; Tuerck, U of O pitcher and Sheehy, third sacker of U of O. Attention is called to the fact that the games do not start until the parade is over, which is advertised to start about 9 a.m. As the parade forms near the high school ball park it is advisable for those intending to see the game to take up a position along the boulevard. The big balloon ascension takes place from the ball park at some time during the game. Prof. Cook will ascend 5000 feet before cutting the parachute loose. TALENT TALK Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Dillard of Portland are now occupying rooms in the Ames building. Mr. Dillard has been in the employ of the government for a number of years in the reclamation service, but will now look after the engineering work of the Talent Irrigation district. He will begin investigating the Beaver creek and the Hyatt Prairie irrigation projects at once. A number of boys who are taking up the Handicraft club project work for the state fair met with Mr. Ager at the school house Thursday afternoon to talk over plans and complete unfinished articles.
