The Cardinals rebounded behind the arm of former Ashland High standout Mike Allen for a 6-2 victory in Game 2. In the opener, the RiverDogs trailed 5-3 to start the ninth but used four straight hits to pull ahead. Matt Smith led off the inning with a double and moved to third on Brandon Willer’s single. Both runners came home on a Ryan Heil triple to right-center and Ken Strate capped the outburst with a run- scoring single. Pitcher Derrick Draper, who entered in the eighth, gave up a leadoff double to Brad Quick in the bottom half of the ninth. Advertisement FIRST GAME S.O. Babe Ruth PACIFIC NORTHWEST REGIONAL — At Nampa, Idaho, Lewiston (Idaho) scored four first-inning runs en route to a 4-1 victory over Medford Red at the 13-year-old tournament. Medford, now 1-2 in pool play, takes on North Washington on Monday. Issac Rolie put Medford on the board in the sixth with an RBI double that plated Matt Shanahan. Jordan Ellis and Mitch Singler, who suffered the pitching defeat, each had two hits.
