[Kevin Opsahl/Mail Tribune] Toys “R” Us is celebrating its grand opening this week at Macy’s in the Rogue Valley Mall, part of a move by Macy’s stores across the country to partner with the popular toy store’s name. A Toys “R” Us shop opened in the Medford Macy’s store in mid-September, and Monday marked the official opening of the toy store brand in Macy’s stores across the country. The department store is using the week of Oct. 17-23, to mark the grand opening, when children can receive a Mini Fools Gold Dig Kit, Play-Doh, Pokemon figures, Lego sets, and more, including a birthday celebration for Geoffrey the Giraffe, the official mascot of the toy store chain, in which kids can win prizes. The mini Toys “R” Us store is located inside the doors of the department store that face the mall parking lot. The Toys “R” Us shops will include playful, colored fixtures, hands-on demonstration tables for customers to interact with various toy assortments, as well as a life-size Geoffrey On A Bench photo opportunity for families, a store representative said in an email. Some of the shops may increase by an additional 500 to 3,000 square feet during the holiday season to offer more products, the spokesman said. Toys for sale at the Toys “R” Us in Medford include Across the Spider-Verse Spider-Punk Web Blast Spider-Man Guitar Toy, Marvel Studios Legacy Collection, Black Panther Slash Claw, mini stuffed animals of Geoffrey the Giraffe dressed as Santa, and a holiday version of Barbie. Over the summer, Macy’s announced a plan to incorporate the Toys “R” Us shops into its department stores as part of a deal with WHP Global, which bought the Toys “R” Us name after the toy chain’s bankruptcy.
