Code names of companies are used when they haven’t announced their intentions publicly. Project Pod — Portable On Demand Systems under construction in West Medford. A metal fabrication company that will employ 35-40 employees. Project Ivan — Panel products company will start production June 1 in White City. With an average wage of $12-$18 an hour, plus benefits, it will employ 50. Project Concrete — Expanding operations from Keizer, the company has purchased a lot in White City and is advertising for manager and laborers. Project Bio — BioMedical Diagnostics of San Jose will locate in White City with 10 employees. Advertisement Project Sticker — 123 Stickers, formerly of San Diego, has moved to Medford with 10 employees. Project Light — Lighthouse Worldwide Solutions, manufacturers of particle counters, came from Milpitas, Calif., to Medford and has 80 employees. Project Flora — Flora Research, formerly of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., has moved its botanical products testing for the natural foods industry to Grants Pass. It has 3 employees. There are 25 companies thinking of moving to Southern Oregon: Project Float — A startup company interested in the North Valley Industrial Park, which would initially employ 3-5, but up to 9 in three years. Project Ecowood — A Northern California company that is interested in Grants Pass and Medford. Project Flour — An East Cast wood by-products manufacturer looking for a West Coast operation. Needs 30-40 acres, but is waiting for more information about air quality issues in Jackson County. Has also looked at Klamath Falls. 180-200 employees. Project Power — An aircraft electronics assembly company in Northern California is looking to relocate to Grants Pass. 25 employees. Project Underground — A small electronics company located in Central Oregon that has considered moving to Grants Pass. Project Triangle — A Central Point site has been proposed for this company, which would create a $100 million investment in its operations. 275 jobs initially; 75 would be added later. Average salary: $40,000 plus benefits. Project Quidor — A manufacturer of water-based adhesives, this company is looking at two sites in White City, requiring 10-30 acres and a 67,000 square foot building. 20-30 jobs. Project Equip — A Bay Area company is purchasing a Portland manufacturing firm and plans to relocate to Salem or Medford. Project SOL — An alternative energy manufacturing firm from Spain with connections to a Grants Pass company is looking at sites in Grants Pass. The governor’s office has been active in supporting this project. Project Lavender — A beauty products wholesaler from Sacramento, Calif., is looking to lease a space in Grants Pass. 20 jobs. Project Bob — A Southern California company that warehouses and distributes bicycle accessories has looked at three sites in the greater Medford area. 30 employees; 25 local hires. Project Juice — A startup organic food products firm has projected moving to Jackson County in June 2004. Project Octopus — A 500,000-square-foot distribution center, requiring an investment of $35 million, could be located in White City. 200-250 employees. Project Edge — An East Coast manufacturer of metal window/door components is looking at Southern Oregon for a 20,000- to 30,000-square-foot building. 25-30 machine operators/maintenance mechanics. Project Drain — A Los Angeles company has selected a site in Grants Pass. 25-30 employees. Project Supply — An auto parts supplier from Southern California is looking at sites in Southern Oregon. Project Bear — A metal fabrication company is looking at three locations, including Grants Pass, Cottage Grove and McMinnville. Project Radio — A marine radio technology company that might consolidate two Northwest companies has considered locating in Medford. Project Reno — A company producing plastic pellets for packing wants to build a production facility close to its West Coast customers. Project Bake — A producer of baked goods and cereals needs 200,000 square feet with rail access. Project Chilango — A San Francisco electronic firm is considering moving to Oregon because of cheaper utilities and workers’ compensation costs. 25 employees. Project Outgoer — A California medical diagnostic products firm will be looking at Medford and Boise, Idaho. 40-50 employees. Project SEMA — An automotive industry company is considering locating in Grants Pass. 75 employees. Project Food — A large food producer has looked at locations in Medford. Oregon’s governor is scheduled to make a personal call. Project Wing — A manufacturer of aircraft components is looking at several states for relocation, including Southern Oregon.
