Eagle Point, which took top-ranked Ashland to five sets on Tuesday, battled the Cavers hard but eventually fell in four games, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-16. "Eagle Point is one of those teams that will always battle," said Grants Pass coach Stacy Iverson. "Their ball control is scary. When they’re on fire, it’s hard to find the court." Grants Pass reversed a 4-10 record from a year before under Iverson to post a 10-4 SOC record and a third-place finish in the conference. The Cavers will make their first state playoff appearance since 1996 when they travel to the Valley League No. 1 seed Nov. 5. The Cavers used a balanced offense and only missed one serve in the match. "We executed our game plan to serve tough and consistent and utilize our middles," said Iverson. "To do that we had to pass the ball to get it in our setter’s hands. And we did a good job of that." "Chelsea took it on her shoulders to help us with ball control," said Iverson. "She had a never-say-die persona." Gonzales provided 14 kills and 21 digs, Franko had only one hitting error with nine kills and 15 digs and Torgerson posted a season-high 10 kills.
