A Grants Pass police officer informed me of this, but a US Cellular representative hadn’t heard of the law. —Sarah H., Medford It’s not illegal to have that phone pressed to your ear while you drive in Oregon, but it is a bad idea, police and transportation officials say. Juggling a cell phone, a conversation and all the duties of a driver can be too much to handle safely. Advertisement "People pick on cell phones, but distracted drivers are a danger," Oregon Department of Transportation district manager John Vial said. So for all those multi-tasking drivers balancing a burger, a latte, a cell phone, a cigarette or all of the above, think about setting it down and concentrating on getting to your destination safely.
