This appears to be a move by Charter to lure basic subscribers to the considerably more expensive expanded services. Can you find out why Charter made this unwarranted change to their basic customers? I’m sure I am not alone in wanting Lifetime returned. — Gerry S., Medford Gerry, you certainly are not alone and we’ve heard from many others on the same topic. But we’re afraid that not only do we not have good news for you, we have more bad news. Gary McDonald, general manager at Charter Cable, said "a contractual obligation" required them to move the channels, while Judy Taylor, WB director of sales says that WB is seen on Channel 11 in many other parts of the country, and the company’s plan is to standardize the channel number. Advertisement Charter’s choice to move the Lifetime channel fits in with its long-term plan to change the basic service lineup to more closely mirror that service in other parts of the state and the country. McDonald said Medford subscribers who get the limited basic service already get "extra channels" beyond what they are paying for. That apparently will end, because Charter is "trying to gradually move to a more true, limited basic lineup," McDonald said.
