14 apply to fill Marsh's seat Monday Jan 30, 2017 at 6:01 PM Jan 30, 2017 at 6:01 PM More than a dozen people have applied to fill the Ashland City Council seat vacated by Pam Marsh, who won election to the state House of Representatives in November. Fourteen people have applied for Seat 6. They are: • Shaun Moran, former banker and owner of Hoot Owl Estates vacation rentals in Trail; • Susan Bradley Krant, attorney; • Gina DuQuenne, regional senior sales manager for Neuman Hotels and founder of Southern Oregon Pride;  • Theo White, who ran for City Council in 2014 and 2016; • David Young, substitute teacher in the Ashland School District, performer and business owner; • Emily Trivette, co-owner of a construction company and manager of horse stables;  • Jan Janssen, retiree; • Louise Shawkat, retired nurse practitioner and active volunteer; • Tonya Graham, executive director of the Geos Institute; • Christine Fernlund, former Siemens manager and volunteer;  • Annie Hoy, outreach and owner services manager for Ashland Food Co-op; • Mark Haneberg, retired attorney; • Traci Darrow, nurse and executive director of the Ashland Emergency Food Bank; • Carol Voisin, former Ashland city councilor for eight years. The City Council will arrange interviews, vote in executive session to narrow down the candidates and cast ballots during an open meeting. Among the primary concerns listed by most, if not all, candidates in their applications were energy policy and affordable housing.
