Stacey Ann Nelson, 39, died from her injuries after being taken to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, Oregon State Police reported. Two Jackson County men — the driver of the motorcycle she rode on and another motorcycle driver behind them — were also injured in the crash. The accident occurred at 6:35 p.m. OSP said Phoenix resident Kevin Wiltrout, 32, was driving a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle down the exit 119 on-ramp to southbound I-5. Nelson was his passenger. Cody Henson, 33, of Talent, followed on another 2009 Harley Davidson. Officials reported Wiltrout suddenly lost control of his motorcycle and struck a fog marker. The bike fell on its side and slid across both southbound lanes and struck the freeway's center concrete divider with Wiltrout and Nelson onboard. Henson lost control of his motorcycle for an unknown reason shortly after, also crashing near the center divider. Wiltrout, Nelson and Henson were all transported to Mercy Medical Center. Nelson died from her injuries. Henson is listed in serious condition, Mercy Medical officials said. Wiltrout is no longer listed in the hospital, though OSP said he was initially transported with non-life threatening injuries. All three were wearing helmets during the crash, police said. Two Medford police officers driving south came across the accident first and provided initial emergency medical care to the crash victims, OSP reported. One southbound lane on I-5 was closed for several hours for the initial response and investigation. OSP, the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and the Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the scene. The crash's cause remains under investigation by OSP. Reach reporter Ryan Pfeil at 541-776-4468 or [email protected] . Follow him at www.twitter.com/ryanpfeil .
