The crash happened about 7:30 p.m. when a semitrailer carrying about 80,000 pounds of potatoes was traveling north on I-5 near milepost 8, and 23-year-old driver Satnam Singh, 23, lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason. An Oregon State Police report said the truck and trailer flipped onto the passenger side and came to rest on the side of the highway, with the trailer hanging over the embankment on the freeway's east shoulder. Oregon State Police and Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the scene. Singh was not hurt in the crash but was cited for careless driving. The truck and trailer were considered a complete loss. Another big rig left the freeway and crashed onto the Bear Creek Greenway late Sunday just south of exit 27. The crash occurred at 11:45 p.m. when Gurpreet Singh, 23, lost control of his truck while driving south and took out sections of guard rail and fence before crossing the Greenway and wrecking in some brush. Singh was cited for failing to drive within a single lane of travel and taken to a hospital with "complaints of pain," according to an OSP report. About seven hours later, a truck driven by 58-year-old Jeffrey Barnes went off the road near milepost 3 while driving north near the Siskiyou Summit. His vehicle crashed into a ravine, but Barnes was not injured. ODOT spokesman Gary Leaming said salvage operations for the wrecks have been difficult because of where they crashed.
