Dubbed "Nothing short of brilliant" by the Santa Rosa — Press Democrat, Rand lives in the wild rivers region of the Siskiyou Mountains, — where she spins anthems of grassroots power and personal transformation. — — Rand grew up in Georgia singing to the birds in the trees. — At 16, she began to travel the country and far beyond. Then she hit the — Pacific Northwest and a certain wild river captured her heart. She homesteaded — there for six years. To this river is dedicated Joanne Rand's seventh — self-produced album, "Into the River." — During the late 1980s Rand began her career as a singer — songwriter. — She has been touring and recording ever since, weaving — her life into her work: from the loss of her brother to AIDS (songwriter, — Jordan Rand), to the birth of her daughter in 1999. Rand, whose style — has been dubbed "Psychedelic-Folk-Revival" and "Acoustic Ritual", spins — songs of transformation and grassroots power. From audiences of 60,000 — to personal appearances for hospice patients, weddings and birthing mothers, — Rand appeals to a wide spectrum of human existence. — With roots in classical piano, gospel, folk, rock and — indigenous music, Rand's career has included performances with Bonnie — Raitt, John Hartford, Richie Havens, Janis Ian and members of the former — Grateful Dead. During the 1990s, Rand anchored Seattle's hometown music — scene.
