Born in Medford, Ore. August 19, 1931 to Soren and Ruby Marie Christensen, Anne grew up on the family farm in Gold Hill, Ore. with three sisters and a brother. She graduated from Gold Hill High participating in 4-H, cheerleading, and a number of other activities. In 1950, she married Lee Johnson in Medford, Ore. In 1952 Lee and Anne welcomed a son, Mike Johnson to the world. Four years later, Curt Johnson was born into the family. In 1960, the family moved to Central Point and took up residence at the home that Lee's father built in 1941. In 1964, son Jeff Johnson arrived to Hanley Road. It was there that the family remained until 1994. Anne was proud to call herself a housewife and homemaker. Anne spent countless days cooking, sewing, and hauling kids around to football, basketball, wrestling, 4-H, concerts, and school activities. Anne particularly enjoyed Home Extension and the lifelong friends she found and developed there. Anne enjoyed volunteer work with the elections board, the Crater Foundation, the Red Cross, and other organizations. She was not religious by definition but had faith in God and lived a life of trying to do right by others. Anne is survived by sisters, Evelyn (George) Kyle, Rogue River and Dagmar (Delmar) Chapman, Medford; brother George (Beverly) Christensen, Medford; brother-in-law, Roland Washburn, Medford; sons, Mike (Clarice); Central Point, Curt, Medford, and Jeff, Central Point; grandchildren, Wendi (Troy) DeYoung, Keizer, and Andy (Casey), Portland; and four great-grandchildren. Anne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; and sister, Beverly Washburn. She will be interred with Lee at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday October 27, 2014 at the Conger Morris Central Point Chapel. There will also be a celebration of her life from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the home of Erma and Gordon Layton, 4584 Old Stage Rd., Central Point, Ore. 97502. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to a most favored charity.
