Authorities believe he is at risk of creating another young victim. In May 2003, Eddie Rivera was arrested and indicted on charges of rape for an incident with a 12-year-old girl in Medford. He pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and was sentenced to three months in jail and three years of probation. Since that time, Rivera has been arrested for violating the terms of his probation and for failure to register as a sex offender. As a registered sex offender, Rivera is required by law to report his new address within 10 days of moving or within 10 days of his birthday. The last time Rivera registered was Feb. 3, when he gave an address in Medford. Because Rivera has failed to comply with the terms of his probation, a statewide no-bail felony warrant was issued on Aug. 4. Rivera is described as a white male adult, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 142 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair and no known scars or tattoos. The picture shown here, taken May 4, is the most recent image available. Jackson County Community Corrections officers believe Rivera may re-offend with another minor female. Anyone who sees Rivera or has any information of his whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers of Southern Oregon at 800-3-DETECT (800-333-8328) and refer to case No. MT-79. Crime Stoppers will pay a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in these cases or any unsolved criminal activity. Callers can remain anonymous.
