Medford golf shop goes out of business Medford's Golf Swing Shop has closed its doors. Owner and operator Jack Couch said his plans for the store and its inventory are unclear. "We've had a lot of support from friends and golfers in the community," said Couch. "But I've decided it's time for me to try something else. I'd like to spend more time playing golf on weekends and spending time with my new granddaughter." A decision three weeks ago by his son, Todd Couch, to take a job in the marketing department of Amerititle title company influenced his decision to shut down the shop, Jack Couch said. Todd Couch helped run the store and was the in-house teaching pro and club fitter. He also gave up golf positions as teaching professional at Quail Point Golf Course and head boys and girls golf coach at South Medford High School. "Todd's decision was a big part of this," said Jack Couch. "Todd was a valuable member of the business and our teacher. It would make it harder to go on without him. "I completely support his decision to pursue a new opportunity," said Couch. "He needs to do what's best for his family, and he has a wonderful opportunity." The store was closed all of last week. A sign in front reads: "closed for inventory." Couch declined to reveal specific plans for the future of the shop. He refused to comment on the financial end of his decision.
