Gilchrist rallies to overtake St. Mary�s boys MERRILL � St. Mary�s was well on its way of completing a two-game Southern Cascade League boys basketball sweep against Gilchrist Saturday. But Gilchrist erased a 13-point deficit entering the fourth quarter and handed St. Mary�s its first league loss, 76-74 in double overtime. Chris Murphy registered a game-high 30 points for sixth-ranked St. Mary�s (16-4, 7-1 SCL). Andrew Knotts fueled the Grizzlies� (17-4, 6-2 SCL) big fourth-quarter comeback by scoring 15 of his 25 points. In overtime, Brad Haynes and Aaron Heim took over for Gilchrist. The Grizzly pair combined for nine of the squad�s 11 points in the two overtime periods. Haynes and Heim finished with 22 points each. Knotts accounted for 18 of Gilchrist�s 42 rebounds, while Heim pulled down 15. Murphy also had 11 rebounds, Michael Fiddler had nine rebounds and five blocked shots and Jason Caplan handed out six assists for St. Mary�s. ST. MARY�S (74) � P. Lost River senior post Trisha Gasser posted a game-high 18 points. Cascade Christian (18-4, 7-2 SCL) was paced by Kelly Clarke with 14 points, and Whitney Brookins with 10.
