By Thomas Moriarty Mail Tribune October 08. 2014 2:00AM Two taken to hospital after stabbing in The Commons A stabbing at Pear Blossom Park in Medford on Tuesday night sent two people to the hospital, and one of them into the custody of the Medford Police Department. Chief Tim George said officers were dispatched to a reported stabbing in the park's ampitheater at 8 p.m. Within 15 minutes, more than a dozen officers had arrived on scene, along with Medford fire and Mercy Flights ambulance personnel.  George said police were still sorting out the names of those involved, but that they had a female suspect in custody who they believed had stabbed a man in the park. George said that the man's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. "It'll be a felony assault regardless," he added. George said the woman was also being taken to the hospital for treatment of a wound apparently inflicted by bystanders trying to disarm her. The park is adjacent to the Lithia Motors building in the area known as The Commons. Medford police have stepped up nighttime patrols nearby in recent weeks because of complaints of transients camping in the area. George said police would release more information about the incident Wednesday. Reach reporter Thomas Moriarty at 541-776-4471, or by email at [email protected] .
