Talent council election lacks drama TALENT � Four seats available on the City Council in the Nov. 7 election each have a single declared candidate. The new terms will begin in January 2001. Candidates are incumbent Katrina Hill for Position 2, incumbent Doug Turner for Position 4 and Bryan Roberts for Position 6, all of which have four-year terms. Jodi Riker-Yap has filed for Position 1, which has a two-year term. Riker-Yap, 45, was a school board member in Phoenix, Ariz., where she was also a precinct committee person. A retired medic and firefighter, she is now a computer graphics artist. She has lived in Talent eight months and for several years previously. She has an associate�s degree in paramedics from Cochise County College in Globe, Ariz. Hill, 44, has lived in Talent since July 1998. She serves on the Talent Parks Commission and was previously an adviser to that group. She works for Sound Peace in Ashland and answers e-mail for another firm. She has been an administrative assistant and performed jet maintenance. Turner, 51, was appointed to serve on the City Council in August 1999. He is a financial services manager with U.S. Cellular in Medford. He previously worked 19 years for Bear Creek Corp. He has a bachelor�s degree in history from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif. He has lived in Talent for three years. Roberts is a self-employed carpenter. He also has worked as an accountant and in sales. He attended Southern Oregon University for two and a half years.
