Randall Maldonado, 17, turned himself over to police Thursday afternoon and was lodged in the Josephine County Jail on the murder charge, Grants Pass police Sgt. Rob Gunderson said in a news release. Maldonado’s mother, Wendy Maldonado, 35, was also indicted Thursday by the grand jury on a charge of murder. She was arrested in the early morning on May 1 after calling police to her Southwest Elmer Nelson Lane home to say her husband needed medical aid. Her husband, Aaron Maldonado, 36, later died at a Grants Pass hospital. Gunderson previously told the Mail Tribune that investigators believe Wendy Maldonado likely caused her husband’s death by striking him in the head several times with a hammer. Advertisement Gunderson declined to discuss a possible motive for the slaying. Police had been to the home hours earlier on a report of someone yelling at the residence, but Wendy Maldonado told police the husband was yelling but had fallen asleep, and police left. No information was available late Thursday about Randall Maldonado’s alleged involvement in the crime. The investigation is continuing, Gunderson said.
