The Ohio Democrat, who is still in the race for president even though Sen. John Kerry has enough votes to win the primary, will make his first appearance from 10 to 11 a.m. at Off the Grid Waffles, 119 A St., Ashland. From noon to 1 p.m., he will give a speech and answer questions at the courtyard of Southern Oregon University. From 2:15 to 3 p.m., he will meet with customers at the Ashland Food Co-operative. Finally, Kucinich will speak from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reston Hotel and Convention Center, 2300 Crater Lake Highway, Medford. The Rogue Valley appearances are part of his campaign sweep through Oregon, which will include stops in Portland, Salem, Corvallis, Eugene and Roseburg. Advertisement Kucinich said he will use his visit to encourage Oregonians to support progressive policy planks at the Democratic convention. "While the nominee for the upcoming election may be a foregone conclusion, what we stand for as the Democratic Party is not a foregone conclusion," Kucinich said in the statement. "We must be the party that stands for peace, for health care and for social and economic justice," he said.
