Buncom Day is Saturday in the Applegate Tuesday May 23, 2017 at 9:41 AM May 23, 2017 at 9:41 AM Buncom, a ghost town in the Applegate Valley, will come alive for its annual Buncom Day festivities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 27. Activities include a noon parade, live music, face painting, books and plants for sale, a country store, kids activities, exhibits, story times, along with food and beverages. Local resident Ken Phillips will tell ghost stories about the occupants of Buncom buildings, and spectators will be able to witness the world-famous “chicken splat contest." Admission is free. Proceeds go toward historic preservation. To reach Buncom, take Highway 238 to Ruch, turn south at Ruch onto Upper Applegate Road, travel three miles, turn left on Little Applegate Road and go another three miles to Buncom at the intersection with Sterling Creek Road. Parking is along the road or in a field mowed for the occasion. See www.buncom.org.
