(An earlier version of this story gave an incorrect date.) The cost for the self-guided tour is $15. Tickets can be purchased until Friday, May 29, in Central Point at The Big House and Central Point Florist and at Southern Oregon Nursery in Medford. Tickets can also be purchased on the day of the tour at RoxyAnn Winery in Medford between 9 a.m. and noon. The garden tour is the organization’s major fundraiser for the year, with proceeds going directly to benefit women, girls and their families in the region. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and a hat and to bring a camera. The work of local artists also will be displayed in two of the gardens on the tour. The tour sites are: Home of Tammi and Andreas Luther, Medford. Soroptimist's description: When you enter this beautiful backyard garden you will notice how the homeowners have put a small space to good use. This garden offers a perfect backyard retreat. The garden features several species of Japanese maples. Tranquility rules the backyard designed around a water feature and a gazebo. Home of Terry and Jill Swain, Jacksonville. Soroptimist's description: This is an exceptional lawn free backyard space. It is a naturalistic setting that is designed around a water feature that takes into account the geography of the area and is landscaped with deer-proof plantings. An outdoor kitchen is perfect for summer entertaining. Warrington Garden, Medford. Soroptimist's description: When you arrive you will notice a stone wall surrounding the front garden. A unique feature of the side garden is a wooden bench built around a grand old oak tree. It is a perfect place to spend a restful afternoon reading a good book. Be sure to take a walk through the vine-clad arbor. Home of John and Deborah Clark, Medford. Soroptimist's description: This is a great garden to visit if you like gardening with edibles. The owners, who have been on our tour in the past, have redesigned their garden and have incorporated “vege-scaping." You will find edibles tucked in with established plantings. Look closely to find peas, beans and potatoes “hidden” in the yard. Don’t forget to visit the backyard for a serene time spent by the koi pond. Home of Gail and Skip Stokes, Jacksonville. Soroptimist's description: When you enter this backyard you will find it to be a very relaxing natural setting, with rocks used to highlight each area. You will see several water features and a rock-lined meandering dry creek bed. This is a lawn-free space with winding gravel paths that highlight the various plantings. A canopy of mature trees is an inviting haven for birds.
