Comment MailTribune.com Writer Posted Apr. 29, 2015 at 12:01 AM Posted Apr. 29, 2015 at 12:01 AM » Social News April 29, 1915 AUTO PASSENGER BANK SUSPECT The authorities in their delving into the mystery of the Rogue River bank robbery are looking for a man carrying an empty suitcase who rode with Seeley Hall in the Grants Pass-Medford stage on the day of the crime. He got on at Gold Hill and rode to Rogue River. Hall's description tallies with that given to the authorities, by the man who told of the plot to rob the bank. The supposition now advanced is that the robber rode to Rogue River in Hall's auto, and that he was carried to safety by the grey Buick Hall saw speeding toward Rogue River five or ten minutes after the crime. The plan of entrance and exit were planned with the same care as the crime. Hall thinks the robber escaped on the S.P. train through Rogue River at 2:15 o'clock. Pinkerton detectives are now working on the case, with the usual shroud of mystery cast over their operations. INTERESTING REFERENCE BOOKS AT LIBRARY Some especially interesting reference books have been placed on the shelves of the public library. The Cyclopedia of Education, in five volumes, edited by Paul Monroe of Columbia University, is comprehensive, attractively printed, and the most valuable reference book there is on educational subjects. The New Standard is called the last word in dictionaries, and supplements Webster's New International and the Century, already in the library. Balley's Encyclopedia of Horticulture is being put out in a new and enlarged edition. Two volumes have been issued, carrying the alphabet through the letter E. The two volumes are here and others will be purchased as soon as printed. URGE ALL TO SEE 'A NAUTICAL KNOT' The Drama league wishes to announce their unqualified indorsement of the opera, "A Knautical Knot," or "The Belle of the Barnstapoole," by Wm. Rhys Herbert and Mand Elizabeth Ineh, to be presented Friday night, April 30, at the Page theater by the Medford high school chorus under the direction of Miss Inez Coffin. Mrs. Brackinreed, president of the Drama league, and Miss Hubbard, who witnessed a recent rehearsal, expressed themselves as delighted with the performance as a whole, and much gratified with the progress made by the young people.
