According to the Klamath Herald and News, Superintendent Craig Ackerman said more than 640,000 people had visited the park as of Oct. 30, above the 600,000 predicted earlier this year. He said a light winter, lower gas prices and special events helped boost visits, even though daily entrance fees increased from $10 to $15. Ackerman said he thinks the communities outside the park, including Klamath Falls and Fort Klamath, have also benefited from all the visitors because campgrounds and cabins fill up quickly during the summer.
