Oxendine, Heath perform well for Phoenix in five-way meet Paced by Michael Oxendine and Kristen Heath, the Phoenix swim teams posted strong marks Saturday in a swim meet with Hidden Valley, North Valley, Mazama and Henley at the Grants Pass YMCA pool. Oxendine and Heath each posted top marks in two individual events, with Oxendine leading the boys team to a first-place finish overall and Heath helping the girls team finish second to North Valley. Oxendine won the 100 free in a time of 53.91, with the sophomore also touching the wall first in the 200 individual medley at 2:10.60. Heath finished first in the 100 free at 1:00.70, with the junior also winning the 200 free at 2:10.22. The Pirate boys earned 96 points to edge Hidden Valley (83), followed by North Valley (36), Mazama (7) and Henley (2). North Valley's girls easily finished first with 81 points, followed by Phoenix (54), Henley (42), Hidden Valley (39) and Mazama (8).
