Cascade Christian picks up SCL victory GILCHRIST - Cascade Christian High girls basketball coach Loren King has been pleading with Jessica Fischer to shoot the ball more. The sophomore guard finally listened to her coach on Friday night, scoring a season-high 14 points to lead the Challengers to a 50-42 Southern Cascade League victory over Gilchrist. Fischer, who serves as Cascade Christian's sixth player, nailed four 3-point baskets, including two down the stretch as the visiting Challengers evened their SCL record at 1-1 and improved to 12-3 overall. MARY'S 34 - Bonanza's full-court press forced at least 20 turnovers and wore St. Mary's down in the second half at the Crusaders' gym. The Crusaders (4-10, 1-1 SCL) pulled to within four points with about three minutes remaining in the first half, but Bonanza spurted to a 31-19 lead at the break Freshman post Brittany Farrer led St. Mary's with 18 points and eight rebounds. Crusaders junior post Christina Vaninetti, who played ill, was limited to four points and hauled in seven rebounds.
