Mustangs rally past Siskiyou; Royals win The Medford Mustangs overcame a 4-0 first-inning deficit and went on to 10-run the visiting Siskiyou Spirits, 15-5, Wednesday night at Miles Field. Lefty Brent Kircher survived a rocky start to notch his fourth win in five decisions as the Mustangs improved to 16-9. Medford retaliated with six runs in the bottom of the first inning, sending nine men to the plate. Fifteen-year-old Rob Folsom singled in his first at-bat for the Mustangs, driving in two runs, while Shawn Backstrom smacked a two-run double to go with five Mustang walks. Josh Bottjer drove in three runs, scored twice and joined Evan McArthur, Matt Skundrick, Phil Ouellette, Folsom and Backstrom with two hits. The game ended when Chase Tester, making his first plate appearance of the season, singled and scored on Bottjer�s triple to right-center. NORTH JACKSON 7-9, ASHLAND 2-5 � At Eagle Point on Tuesday, North Jackson broke a 5-5 tie with four runs in the sixth-inning to pull away in the second game of an American Legion doubleheader sweep. With one out and runners on first and second, 15-year-old center fielder, Mark Farrell drove home the eventual winning run. Scott Stockton added a two-run triple and scored one batter later on Ryan Garrett�s RBI single. Pitcher Matt Holte threw a seven-hitter to pick up his third win. Evan Pogue was 4-for-4 in the twin bill to lead the Royals, while Farrell added three hits in three at-bats in Game 2. North Jackson improved to 13-3 overall and 10-0 in league play. The Royals travel to Portland this weekend where they will defend their Jesuit Tournament title. They play Clackamas 3 p.m. Friday.
