Since You Asked: Black Oak work stalled by paver breakdown Monday Aug 21, 2017 at 12:01 AM We who live in the area of Black Oak Drive are wondering when we can expect the paving to be finished? It has been a month since it was prepped, and I can't believe it is taking so long. — Randy H., Medford Randy, there's an old saying that schedules are made to be broken. In this case, it wasn't just the schedule that was broken, but also the city's paving equipment. Cory Crebbin, public works director for the city of Medford, says things were going along swimmingly ... until "the paving machine broke down and the exotic part needed to fix it has a five-week lead time. So, we’re waiting for the part." The city had prepped and paved the section of Black Oak north of Siskiyou Boulevard, but only got the prepping done on the section south of Siskiyou. Crebbin noted that the city finished one paving job with a borrowed paving machine, but added: "... this time of year, there aren’t many idle paving machines around." There is a light at the end of the tunnel, Randy, although the end of that tunnel will be somewhere near the end of the summer, Crebbin said.
