Man critical after crash near Days Creek By Mail Tribune staff Updated: Aug 28, 2022 04:52 PM A A DAYS CREEK — A Days Creek man was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash in the 7000 block of Days Creek Cutoff Road Friday night, but he was not rescued until early Saturday morning. On Saturday at 4:15 a.m., a neighbor heard a man yelling for help and called 9-1-1. It was reported the occupant of a vehicle was trapped approximately 150 feet down an embankment. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office, along with fire and emergency medical personnel found the driver, 57-year-old Steven Thomas Kremer of Days Creek, who had crashed his vehicle at approximately 9 p.m. Friday. Kremer's vehicle, a 2001 GMC Sonoma pickup, left the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled multiple times down the embankment. Fire and EMS personnel had to extricate Kremer from the vehicle in order to get him to the roadway to a waiting ambulance. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Kremer was later transferred from Mercy Medical Center to Sacred Heart at Riverbend for further care, where he remained Sunday in critical condition. Umpqua Valley Ambulance, Days Creek Fire Department, Canyonville South Umpqua Fire Department and Riddle Fire Department responded.
