The 5- foot, 7-inch outside hitter helped the Raiders repeat as Cascade Conference champion and notch a fourth straight regional title by becoming the first player ever to compile over 400 kills and 400 digs in a single season. The former North Medford High all-state product and two-year University of Oregon letterwinner was the only player in the 10-team league to finish among the circuit stat leaders in four major categories: kills (5th, 468), digs (8th, 480), attack percentage (11th, .240) and service aces (7th, 50). The business major posted double-digit kill and dig totals in 21 of the team’s 36 matches, including match-bests of 23 kills at Western Baptist and 28 digs in the thrilling regional tournament finale against Northwest. Ferris is only the second SOU volleyballer to receive conference and regional MVP status, and the Medford native is the school’s fourth different first-, second- or third-team NAIA All-American. Only a close pool play loss to eighth-ranked Concordia, Calif. — the eventual national runner-up — prevented Ferris and the Raiders from advancing to bracket play at last week’s NAIA Championships in San Diego. Southern Oregon, which ranked as high as No. 10 in the national polls, finished with a 28-8 overall record that included upsets of two different second-ranked teams as well as a four-game win over regional top seed and 13th-ranked Carroll, Mont.
