Oregon Road Conditions & Cams Email Story to a Friend March 14, 2006 Black Tornado girls romp to SOC golf win North Medford endured cold and wet conditions to beat South Medford by 50 strokes in an all-Southern Oregon Conference girls golf tournament at Stewart Meadows Golf Course Monday. Abby Perkins’ 82 led a solid North Medford squad, which was the only team not to have a player drop into triple digits. Perkins tied for second place with South Medford’s Calley DuVall. Justine Hix of Grants Pass emerged as the medalist with a 9-over-par 79. The Cavers finished third as a team. Chamberlain didn’t allow a hit in her three innings of work to pick up the win. Offensively, Chamberlain and Prestianni each recorded a double, triple and four RBIs. The Cavers’ Kim Gonzales slammed a home run and went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Cami Bennett went 2-for-4 while driving in a pair of runs. In round-robin play, Grants Pass also played two innings apiece against Roseburg and Del Norte in rainy conditions. Wrestling ORE-CAL MEET — At Ashland, an Oregon all-star squad won seven of 13 matches but the California all-stars rode two falls and two technical fouls to post a 32-28 victory in the Oregon-California Dual Meet Saturday at McNeal Pavilion. The second annual meet featured mostly state champions from the two states. A crowd of about 1,000 looked on, meet organizer Harry Mondale said. Eagle Point’s Jake McCoy and Chris Platt and North Medford’s Tim Endecott were among the winners. McCoy, competing at 152 pounds, defeated Luke Manuel, 3-2. Platt (171) downed Brandon Kolb, 10-2.
