North inside game too much for GP Wednesday Jan 17, 2018 at 2:00 AM GRANTS PASS — North Medford exploited its advantage inside against Grants Pass in Southwestern Conference girls basketball Tuesday. Black Tornado senior posts Megan Fossen and Adriane McLemore proved more than the Cavers could handle as North posted a 42-37 road victory. Fossen, who is averaging a double-double on the season, produced 14 points and 13 rebounds and McLemore added 14 points and five rebounds. “Even though they focused on (Fossen), it was a yeoman's effort by her,” said North Medford coach Tim Karrick. “She’s a physical presence. She’s a terror out there on defense and rebounding.” The North post tandem accounted for 18 of the Black Tornado’s 28 first-half points. The Black Tornado (8-7, 2-1 SWC) built a 17-point margin at intermission. “That was probably the best half we’ve played all year,” said Karrick. “We executed and moved the ball well.” McLemore connected on all seven of her field goal attempts. “That‘s really a big game for (McLemore),” said Karrick. “Adriane had some nice post moves. It was good to see her finish.” For Grants Pass (10-5, 2-1), Ahdra Klingler and Grace Gaither combined for 23 points. The Cavers outscored North 13-2 in the fourth quarter. “Being on the road, that’s a huge win for us,” said Karrick. “We can be pretty darn good at times. Grants Pass is scrappy. They’re a tough out.” NORTH MEDFORD (42): T. Baker 4, Karrick 8, Christiansen 0, A. Baker 2, McLemore 14, Graff 0, Fossen 14. Totals: 19 2-9 42.
